What makes Bolivia different
You spend almost the entire trip above 3,500m. Cities feel close to the sky, food leans hearty (think salteñas and pique macho), and Aymara culture is visible everywhere from textiles to cable-car commutes between La Paz and El Alto.
A practical route
- La Paz (2-3 nights): Witches' Market, Mi Teleférico cable cars, Valle de la Luna.
- Lake Titicaca via Copacabana (2 nights): Isla del Sol day or overnight.
- Uyuni Salt Flats (3 days, 2 nights): Joint tours run to the Chilean border at San Pedro de Atacama.
Wet season magic
January to March brings the famous mirror effect on Uyuni when a thin layer of water reflects the sky. Roads can be muddy and some routes close, so book operators with strong reputations.
